A NETBALL club has raised hundreds of pounds after hosting a charity tournament.

Women and men took part in the mixed event, which was hosted by Stanley Storm Netball Club at the town’s Louisa Centre on Sunday.

Teams from all over County Durham took part in the event, which raised £360.

The club will now be making a donation to PACT House, a charitable community cafe and support service in Stanley, as well as giving them food donated by players on the day, for their food bank.

The rest of the money will go to support the club’s activities, which include helping to set up a junior club.

Club member Louise Hurst said: “Massive thanks to everyone who turned out to play and for their generous donations.

“We had a brilliant day.”

The women’s tournament was won by Team Sunderland while the mixed event, including men and women, was won by Dolls.

Stanley Storm trains at the Louisa Centre every Monday, between 7.30pm and 9pm.

New players are welcome to attend.
